TMK boosts Cyber Ctrl PD+ with new protections for cyber-physical risks
Wednesday, October 14, 2026
London, 14 October 2026 – Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has enhanced its Cyber Ctrl PD+ wording with a range of new features designed to address the needs of asset and inventory-intensive businesses faced with the growing risk of cyber incidents impacting physical assets, supply chains and financial transactions.
The enhancements include:
- Dedicated Perishable Goods Loss Insuring Agreement: Affirmative protection where raw materials, work in progress, finished goods or integral packaging are spoiled, contaminated, degraded, damaged, improperly stored or otherwise rendered unusable or unsellable. This is particularly relevant to businesses that depend on refrigeration, environmentally controlled storage, automated manufacturing processes and connected operational technology. Recent attacks impacting refrigeration systems at French supermarkets demonstrate how quickly a cyber incident can result in stock spoilage.
- Expanded Contingent Business Interruption Cover: Includes suppliers of critical goods and services, recognising that operational disruption following a cyber incident can originate from a much wider range of third-party dependencies than IT service providers alone.
- Cyber Crime Extension: Reimbursement for losses arising from employees being deceived into sending money to a threat actor, or where payments owed to the business are diverted using fake invoices or payment instructions. This is particularly relevant for companies that process large volumes of payments and invoices or have complex customer and supplier networks.
The wording enhancements benefit from the capacity available through the TMK PD+ Consortium at Lloyd's, providing up to US$75 million of cover for cyber-triggered physical damage and ensuing business interruption losses.
The consortium builds on TMK's Cyber Ctrl PD+ offering and is designed to make specialist cyber-physical damage protection available at a scale suitable for larger and more complex risks. It brings together pre-agreed capacity from participating syndicates under TMK as lead underwriter. This provides greater certainty and allows substantial specialty capacity to be deployed efficiently. The consortium is available through Lloyd's brokers.
Paul Gooch, Deputy Departmental Head, Cyber & Enterprise Risk at TMK, said:
"While traditional cyber threats like ransomware and data breaches continue to plague organisations across every sector, attackers are now tailoring their methods to the specific technologies, processes and operational dependencies of individual industries. Cybercriminals are identifying and targeting their victim’s most critical and vulnerable business operations to cause the greatest physical, operational and financial damage.
"As a result, businesses need to look beyond traditional cyber policies focused solely on ‘non-damage’ risk. The way cyber incidents impact organisations is changing, and insurance solutions need to keep pace.
"Through our enhanced Cyber Ctrl PD+ wording and the launch of the PD+ Consortium, we're providing clients with access to meaningful capacity and specialist coverage designed specifically for these cyber-physical risks.
"The developments reflect growing recognition across the market that traditional distinctions between cyber and property risks are becoming increasingly blurred as digital and physical systems become more interconnected."
